About

Hello. My name is Rob Esch and my company is Esonic Sound Services. I began the company in 2004 because I was having a problem finding good quality PA gear for the bands I was mixing at a reasonable price point. The gear I rented was old, didn’t work properly half of the time and created many frustrations for me as a technician trying to get professional results from old and poorly maintained equipment. The only option was to buy my own sound equipment to take to a gig with me that i knew would work properly.

I have a long history in the Lower Mainland (Greater Vancouver) music and music production scene. I started my career as the original drummer of The Northern Pikes in Saskatoon; the Pete Best of the Northern pikes 🙂  I moved to Vancouver in 1985 to pursue a music career in Vancouver. I graduated from Columbia Academy of Recording Arts and Television Recording Engineering Program with honors in 1988. I played drums or recorded with The Real Mackenzies, Art Bergmann, Gob, Bif Naked and many others.

It made sense to move my career into doing Live Sound as well as playing and recording. I started working for a production company in Vancouver in 1992. We provided PA systems for many local and international promoters (House of Blues, Live Nation, Periscope, Panther). As an experienced live sound technician I have had the opportunity to work with many Canadian and international recording acts: Matthew Good, Bif Naked, Lee Aaron, NOFX, Nickelback, Soundgarden, The Odds, Sarah McLachlan, Colin James, amoung others.
